A little about myself,
I started my teaching career at MSU where I majored in biology and minored in chemistry. Through MSU, I completed my year long teaching internship at Malow Junior High and absolutely loved it, which is why I am so excited to be returning to UCS! Since then, I have been teaching science at Memphis Jr/Sr High school. Most of my experience has been teaching chemistry and physical science but I have taught a wide variety of other science courses. This is where I also learned about the 4H Outdoor Adventure Challenge Club and have since become an instructor, started my own club, and have been taking kids outdoors rock climbing, backpacking, caving, skiing, winter camping, and canoeing for the past 10 years. I LOVE THE OUTDOORS! I am very passionate about youth development and sharing my love for science through experiential learning. There are no words to describe the sense of pride and joy I have to see the youth come through the program and grow and mature into amazing young adults.
In addition to being a teacher/ mentor to youth, I am also a wife and a mother. My daughter Ashlyn is 5 and also shares my love for science and the outdoors. We spend all our free time outdoors and she is great at identifying many animal species. She is super outgoing, thoughtful and kind to others, and will have you in stitches laughing at all the stuff that comes out of her mouth! I met my husband Krett while teaching together at Memphis. He is now the Maintenance and Transportation Director at Memphis schools.
I would describe myself as very energetic and enthusiastic. I love art and creating new things. I am a morning person and gladly sing the “good morning” song to my students every morning! Some claim they hate it but are always disappointed when I don’t!
